Briefly introduce yourself

My name is Ritz, like the hotel Ritz Carlton or Oreo’s half blood brother, the cheese Cracker Ritz. I’m currently part of the design team for Necessity Sense.

Share your experience and what you believe you gained from studying fashion design in New York

  1. Something my professor taught me on the first day of class that I will always remember. “Always dress up and look presentable because you never know who you will meet in this big city and be ready to seize any given opportunity”
  2. During my internship years, I learnt I should always be eager, and willing work hard even if it means running errands and buying coffee. Then through personal observation and asking questions during work is when I actually pick up the most.

Describe your design style in one sentence

It’s all in the small details that makes the garment special.

What were your impressions of NE.SENSE before and after joining the team?

Before: A team of extreme young talents who pioneers the Menswear industry in Taiwan.

After: A team of hardworking boys who are working extremely hard to chase after their dreams every single day.

Share some of your favorite directors

  • Park Chan-Wook – Old Boy
  • Quentin Tarantino -Inglourious Basterds/Pulp Fiction
  • Wes Anderson – The Grand Budapest Hotel

Which animal best represents your character?

I don’t really know. What do you think after you see these answers?

If your life could be a TV series, what TV series would you choose? What role do you play?

I would choose Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders. Always been very fascinated with gangster films growing up. I really like the character Thomas Shelby because he is portrayed as a calm and collected gangster. I hope that would be the vibe I eventually give out to other people one day. Another main reason is because I love the traditional menswear clothes worn throughout the show, 3 pieces with ties and overcoats.

Recommend some of your favorite artists/ singers

The two artists who are currently on my heavy rotation would be Ella Mai, and Joji.

If you were not a designer, what would you like to do?

I would love to be either a film director or a tattooist, for I often feel like I cannot express my thoughts and feelings fully through words alone.

Is there anything you’ve always wanted but have so far resisted the temptation to buy?

New Mac Book Pro Space Grey color way.
