For Spring Summer 2020 the collection began from researching a 1972 photography series entitled “Suburbia” in which the photographer Bill Owens documented the lives of those living the so called “American Dream” in a Los Angeles suburb.
The photography dives deep inside homes and life in the suburbs of the time. Despite the images of smiling families, backyard barbecues and women at the hair salon, the images portray a world seemingly insulated from the social changes of the time. The desolate feeling found in the photographs is paralleled to another of the season’s inspirations, The Truman Show.
This bleak facade of theatrics serves as inspiration for the collection’s photo shooting. A dark suburban reality is brought to life through the photography of Vladimir Kaminetsky and styling of Mauricio Nardi.
